
The Engineering Department is responsible for managing design
and inspection contracts for the city's Capital Improvement
Program (CIP); Construction Management of the foregoing and
private site development; maintaining record construction
Drawings and Subdivision Plats; Acquiring Rights of Way and
Easements for Capital Improvements; and Transportation Planning
& Engineering. Capital Improvements include but are not limited
to: waterlines, sanitary sewers, storm sewers, roadways,
and traffic signal systems.
Upon completion of Planning Commission's approval of Zoning
& Final Development Plans for Private Developments, Site
Engineering review and construction management of the said
are administered through the Engineering Department.
The Engineering Department houses a state of the art Transportation
Management Center (TMC). The TMC utilizes hardware and software
for managing traffic signal timings for the 34 traffic signals
operating within Gahanna's Jurisdiction. Thoroughfare Plan
Updates, Traffic Engineering Studies, and Intelligent Transportation
System (ITS) development are all within the department's purview.
